about the geocoin

“giga” stands for 1,000,000,000 (i.e. one billion), whereas “nano” is kind of the opposite, one billionth.

giga derived from greek “gigas” = giant. “nano” originally means dwarf.

this geocoin reflects groundspeaks new addition to the cache types. from 2014, every mega event with more that 5000 participants will be a giga event.

so far (until 2020), 8 gigas have taken place (list).

these geocoins are amongst the smallest ones ever made worldwide.
